Lux was honored to represent California at this year’s National Tree Lighting Ceremony in Washington D.C. Earlier this month I had the privilege of attending the ceremony and delighted in the performances of acclaimed entertainers such as Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey and the Avett Brothers. Of course, the ultimate highlight of the entire experience was observing the first family in all their presidential glory. Sasha and Malia might just be the two coolest kids in the country. They should really join the Lux family.
Despite the cold and unrelenting rain, I was thrilled to sit within 50 feet of the Obamas lighting the gorgeous, gigantic, glowing National Tree. Surrounding the large tree were the 56 smaller trees adorned with the custom designed ornaments from each state and territory. The Ellipse became a sea of umbrellas and ponchos, as hundreds of visitors gathered to watch the event. It was an adventure that I will always remember.
The tree lighting ceremony can be viewed online at www.thenationaltree.org. The California tree will be on view on the Pathway of Peace until January 1st, just in case you happen to be in D.C.!
